Why No-Master Network ?

Most existing wireless network technology utilizes a “base” station, which is also referred to as “master”, “co-ordinator” or other names. In essence, the base station orchestrates the timing of transmission and reception of individual units on the network.

In terms of a fully mobile wireless group, such a scheme would restrict that the master station is always powered on, always in range, and always functional. If this fails to be the case, the entire system comes to a halt.

What we have developed is a wireless system that can operate with any number (up to 4) of units running in a group. There is no restriction of the order of powering up of units. Any unit can be powered off, or wanders out of range at any time; the remaining units in the group continue to operate without interruption. The out-of-range unit automatically rejoins the group when it gets in range again.
