Nautic Devices Inc. was founded by a group of experienced computer and
electronic engineers.
When we are not hard at work, we sail and saw the
need for a short-range communication device effective in all types of weather
conditions and sailing situations aboard our boat.
We wanted to hear
each other clearly at opposite ends of the boat when anchoring or entering an
unfamiliar anchorage for the first time, especially in stormy and low-visibility
conditions. When the sails are flapping, shouting does not do much good. There's
nothing more nerve racking than being at the helm and hearing the garbled bit of
the bow lookout's hesitant warning left by the wind - all the while watching the
depth sounder number plummet.
We had tried existing FRS, but found the
push-to-talk buttons cumbersome. We needed our hands free and ready for sailing.
We believed that other sailors would share this desire for a better
way.
Nautic Devices Inc. was incorporated in 2005. After one and a half
years of intense research and development, our person-to-person close-range
communication device, Yapalong is ready.
Yapalong has practical
applications beyond the demanding marine environment, such as, skiing, hunting,
clean rooms, and construction sites. We hope that you will find peace of mind on
those windy nights onboard and discover many other applications of Yapalong for
yourselves.
